CULTURE & RELIGION
Cultural & Religious at Work*
Part 1- Get answers to 'taboo' questions about cultural or religious differences between employees or co-workers.
DESCRIPTION
This 4-week course helps you lead a multicultural, multi-generational workforce by understanding the values driving communication and behavior.
Cultural inclusion doesn’t mean ignoring differences or hoping they go away; it's understanding them while keeping an eye on priorities and goals. If you ask everyone to bring ‘their whole selves to work‘, be prepared when unfamiliar, confusing, or objectionable behavior shows up. People can't leave their feelings and values at home.
Meet employees part way by learning the miscommunications that can occur when different (visible and invisible) values collide at work, and how to avoid the most common cultural misunderstandings.
PROBLEM THIS COURSE SOLVES
Get answers to your to 'taboo' questions. Practice solving real-life scenarios that occur around key friction topics, such as: communication, gender, touch, modesty, food/drink, and holidays. This course provides an overview of major religions and fast-growing "Nones", (people with no religious affiliation). While we focus more on cultural and religious identifiers, the information, tools, and perspectives delivered will build overall emotional and cultural awareness skills.

The Disagreement Advantage
Part 2- Work more effectively with people whose religious or cultural practices seem at odds with your gender equity goals.
DESCRIPTION
Gender separation is a practice whereby men and women follow strict modesty rules, especially in public. Employees who are born into or choose to follow these religious or cultural norms are often targets of prejudice and discrimination.
How do you work together if these customs seem to undermine your gender equity goals? Memorizing a TO DO list isn't enough. Most people can see through 'tolerance'.
What if there's more than one way to empower women? Join a dialogue based on our belief that no single country, culture, or faith has the perfect answer to balancing power and ending inequality. We ask you to suspend polarizing East/West ideologies and explore new ideas about respect and freedom.
PROBLEM THIS COURSE SOLVES
Judging people destroys trust. Inclusion is harder when you work across big cultural divides. Learn how to stay neutral and curious.
