Multicultural public safety research
We were asked to determine which two local, English-Second-Language communities (out of several), that had the greatest need for a public transit safety campaign. We analyzed demographics, compared English proficiency rates, generational dynamics and train usage patterns of citizens in the targeted area. We also researched community access to municipal resources, and interviewed public safety, planning and human service professionals.
Next, we talked to a variety of leaders within the major communities before making a recommendation. Finally, we wrote public service announcements and placed them in the appropriate "ethnic" newspapers.
