OUTREACH
Engage New Local Markets
Community outreach creates partnerships that can bring new opportunities and increased capacity. This is good business 101 in the private sector and increasingly an expectation of social profit funders. It takes an investment of time and resources to launch long-term relationships with marginalized or hard-to-reach groups. We work alongside you to assess capacity and provide training to close skill gaps.

We asked Lee to facilitate the challenging and honest discussions our business community needed to have in order to adapt and respond as a unit during these unprecedented times. She provided expert outside support that allowed sharing and development of ideas.

Korean-American Engagement
Challenge
The Puget Sound corridor has the second largest Korean-American population on the West Coast, and the city of Shoreline sought to improve engagement with this community.
Solutions
In 2012, I worked with the Korean-American Historical Society to re-engage this community group's participation in the city's popular annual arts and culture festival. Tasks included grant writing and co-production.
Results
Our work in this cultural space led to new or deeper connections with the city and the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce. This, in turn, increased public and fuller representation of Shoreline's Asian-American community.

Ensuring Public Safety in a Multi-lingual Business District
Challenge- A marketing and communications agency wanted a neutral third party to determine which two local ethnic groups had the greatest translation needs for a public transit safety campaign.
Solutions- I analyzed demographics of four English Language Learner populations, including: generational differences in English proficiency rates, train usage patterns, and public access to municipal resources. Next, I interviewed city planners, business owners, and community leaders, then made recommendations.
Results- The client decided to translate campaign materials into Spanish and Korean. No fatalities have occurred in the high use, densely populated urban communities where the light rail was constructed.

Growing Young Entrepreneurs
In 2019, I wrote a grant and marketing collateral for GSBP's (Global Social Business Partnerships), their first Youth Rising conference, sponsored by Bellevue College, Alaska Airlines, and Bellevue's Youth Club. This event was led by multicultural student entrepreneurs, attracted experienced business executives who worked with them.
Ladies-Only Night Out
Arabian Nights- I provided cross-cultural business and local government promotion for Arabian Knights, a women's only event in Edmonds, Washington. Produced by Michaela Corning and Chema Jamel Oh, the evening featured music, dance, a runway fashion show, grand bazaar, and Arabic food. It sold-out and was attended by 500 customers.
